The importance of locally made products

Our Story

During 2020, we’ve all learnt a lot about ourselves and the choices we need to make for our future. The importance of Australian made and owned products and protecting Australian jobs is something that the team at He Rebel live by. After our creation and design during the pandemic, we’ve committed to educating others about the importance of locally made products and how to spot the difference in the brands you use every day.

The importance of locally made products

When you buy and support locally made products there is a chain reaction of what takes place after. Not only do you support a business and family financially, but you are also further supporting the Australian economy as a whole. You play an active role in helping someone gain employment and helping a small business grow.

What is the difference between purchasing from He Rebel vs buying from a non Australian made brand?

When you purchase from HE REBEL, you are ensuring that there is carefully crafted quality and thought put into your product. We are not a ‘white labelled product’ or simply a product created for ‘rebranding’. To put it simply, a white-labelled product is a product produced off-shore at a cheaper manufactured rate and then sold without branding for any company to rebrand in Australia. It doesn’t guarantee quality control or ethical standards as you simply do not know the origin from where the parcel has been sent. The difference when you purchase from HE REBEL is that each product is designed and created meaningfully in Adelaide with our knowledge and expertise at the forefront.

How to spot the difference between white labelled products vs Australian owned and made?

The difference between the two can be subtle, and that is for a good reason. For Australian owned brands who use white labelling, they typically want to hide or contain this information as much as possible. They do this in several ways, the might claim that the brand is ‘Australian Owned’ but hold little to no information that it is also ‘Australian Made’. They typically cover or change the ‘Made in China’ label to ‘Made in PRC’ (peoples republic of China) which is a more unfamiliar term. Finally, the ingredient list is usually full of chemicals and substances you’ve possibly had never heard of.

What this means to us

At HE REBEL, we are so incredibly proud that we are Australian Made and Australian Owned. Our ingredients couldn’t be clearer. After 14 years in the hair game, we’ve learnt a thing or two about what works. We’ve taken out all the bad stuff and left in what your hair needs. Our products are made with natural ingredients that benefit your hair such as Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Moroccan Lava Clay and Diatomaceous Earth.

Being informed with continuous education is the best thing you can ever do. Choose wisely and shop local where you can. We believe in doing our best to help support Australian business whenever it is possible.
